WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Eyelash extensions are quickly becoming the most popular trend in the beauty industry. Lashes are applied individually onto your natural lashes to create a full, natural, and long-lasting look. The lashes are customizable; different types of curls, lengths, and thickness can be customized to achieve your desired look. Whether you are looking for an enhanced everyday look, or more of a glamorous look for a special occasion, we work closely with each client to create the perfect look for you.
WHAT ARE THE EYELASH EXTENSIONS MADE OUT OF?
The extensions used at XO Lashes by Ann, LLC are 100% synthetic mink made out of polyester. We do not offer mink lashes, there is a higher chance of an allergic reaction when using animal hairs.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M THE RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
A patch test can be done during a consultation visit to determine if you have any known allergies. In some cases, if a client forms a reaction right away that is an indication that they are allergic to the adhesive. However, keep in mind that an allergic reaction can occur at a later time.
HOW SHOULD I ARRIVE TO MY APPOINTMENT?
Please arrive to your appointment 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork and to wash your lashes. Make sure you arrive with no eye makeup on, as this will allow more lash time and less clean-up time.
HOW LONG WILL THE INITIAL APPOINTMENT TAKE?
The initial appointment usually takes about 2-3 hours, depending on the type of style.
IS THE APPLICATION PROCESS PAINFUL?
No, the application process is a non-invasive, relaxing, and painless procedure. It is very relaxing, and you may even fall asleep.
WILL THE PROCEDURE HARM MY NATURAL LASHES?
No, with proper application and isolation from a trained and certified lash artist, your natural lashes cannot be harmed. The extensions should be applied one by one; making sure each eyelash is properly isolated. The lash artist will go over thoroughly with each client on the aftercare instructions. But, it is the client's responsibility to keep their lashes clean to ensure that they stay healthy!
DO I NEED TO WAIT 24 HOURS BEFORE GETTING MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS WET?
No, during the process of the procedure your lash extensions are cured at the end with a nano-mister; a fine mist that sprays evenly throughout the lashes. It helps dry each individual layer faster and completely as it bonds to the natural lashes. This helps eliminate any burning sensation and a lot of irritation that may take place during the procedure or afterwards.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Your lash artist will go over aftercare instructions and recommended products with you to ensure the best retention, while keeping your lashes clean and healthy.
WHAT SHOULD I AVOID WHILE HAVING EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Avoid rubbing your eyes, using any oil-based products, and sleeping on your face. Saunas and steam rooms should be avoided, but not limited to. As long as you wash your lashes daily, you can go about your daily routine without any problems.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN I START TO LOSE MY LASH EXTENSIONS ALONG WITH MY NATURAL LASHES?
Do not panic when this happens! This is normal; lashes shed every 30-60 days. We lose an average of 3 lashes per day, 21 lashes in a week. Some people will lose more, depending on your lash cycle.
WHAT IS A FILL, AND HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO COME IN?
A fill is the maintenance part to lash extensions. Grow outs will be removed and new extensions are applied to fill in the missing gaps, where the natural lashes have shed off. A fill is recommended every 2-3 weeks to ensure that your lashes are looking full and fabulous; the appointment takes an hour to an hour and half depending on the style.
CAN I GET EYELASH EXTENSIONS WHEN PREGNANT?
Yes, it is safe to have lash extensions applied when pregnant. However, it is advised that you contact your physician before going forward with the procedure. Hormones and medications can affect the retention of the extensions, and at times they don’t adhere to the natural lashes.
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS IN THE ADHESIVE?
Cyanoacrylate; a hypoallergenic adhesive is used for clients with sensitive eyes, however it does not provide the best retention.
WHAT DO I DO IF I FORM AN ALLERGIC REACTION?
Contact your lash artist immediately! Signs of an allergic reaction can be itchiness, soreness, puffiness, irritation to the eyelids, and inflammation of the eyelids.
CAN I USE A LASH SERUM WITH MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Yes, you may use a lash serum while having lash extensions. However, keep in mind that your lashes will grow at a faster pace, and fills are required more frequently to keep them looking full.
CAN I APPLY MASCARA TO EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
No, if mascara is applied to the lash extensions this will break down the adhesive and cause the extensions to clump together and fall out quicker. It may result in lash damage.
HOW DO I REMOVE THE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Never attempt to pick or pull off your lash extensions; refer to your lash artist to have them professionally removed. Picking or pulling off extensions on your own can cause damage. There will be a removal fee of $35, and under the circumstance of an allergic reaction the fee will be waived.
